    Who we are

We are a small friendly team who all love art and design with a passion. With backgrounds in illustration, design and publishing, all that matters to us is producing quality stationery products that are beautifully hand crafted and that stand out from the crowd.

All designs are carefully chosen in our small Bristol studio during our morning reviews and over a nice cup of tea! Our wonderful artists are always popping in for a chat and lots of deliberating takes place over the illustrations and the designs to come up with the perfect product. We get very excited when everything comes together and can’t wait to show them off.

Everything you can see in our store can be personalised and great care and thought is put into every piece of stationery you order from us from the printing to the packing. It is very much hands on here, so we are all involved in making sure your personalised notebooks, gifts and stationery arrive looking just right.

    How we started

We are the sister company of greetings card publisher James Ellis which began publishing greetings cards in 1997.

In 2011 a member of staff needed a gift for his son's teacher and he experimented by personalising one of our standard notebooks with the teacher's name.

It looked great and a few months later we started selling them on Not On The High Street. We expanded our range and decided our personalised products needed a new home. Made By Ellis was created in 2013 to specialise solely in personalised gifts and stationery. James Ellis continues to supply shops and individuals with non personalised greetings cards.

    The Environment

We try to be as environmentally friendly as possible. Our studio is run by wind power from Good Energy and we donate any spare materials we have to the Children's Scrap Store in Bristol. Wherever possible we print on board that is made from wood pulp sourced from sustainable forests.
